Online Counselling
Your emotional and mental wellbeing is important. We all go through periods of happiness and sadness, but in the hustle and bustle of everyday life we may not prioritise ourselves. Online counselling may be the answer and fit into your busy schedule.
Navigating the complexities of everyday life is a journey marked by profound moments of joy, love, and personal growth. Yet, it also comes with a range of intricate challenges that can often feel overwhelming and bewildering. From managing daily stresses to juggling various responsibilities, balancing work and personal life, and facing unexpected hurdles, each stage of ordinary life brings its distinct set of obstacles.
In the fast-paced lifestyle of today’s society, we frequently find ourselves with limited time to rejuvenate or engage in activities that nourish our emotional well-being and relationships. Fortunately, with the global shift towards online communication and technology during the Covid era, we have gained convenient ways to eliminate the need for extra scheduling and bring counselling services to the convenience of your own home or chosen location.

At Kylie Lepri Counselling, we understand that life can be busy, and it’s not always easy to make time for in-person appointments. That’s why we offer online counselling Australia wide, giving you the convenience to receive the support you need from the comfort of your own space. Counselling has never been more important and with greater resources online, such as online video conferencing, you can experience the same high quality service and benefits of a regular in-person therapy session.
What is Online Counselling?
Online counselling is a valuable mental health service that connects individuals, couples, or families with our skilled therapists via the internet. We use various digital platforms like video calls or phone chats to provide professional support.
Who is Online Counselling for?
Online Video Counselling is a convenient and safe option for everyone, whether you are seeking individual, couples or family counselling. Online counselling is useful for people that have difficulty travelling to appointments either because of distance/remoteness, mobility problems, people with childcare commitments or simply those with a busy family, work and travel schedule.
Who is Online Counselling not suitable for?
Online counselling may not be suitable for all people. It’s unlikely that online counselling is appropriate for you if you’re experiencing:
- Emotional, physical, or sexual domestic violence
- Any impulse to harm yourself or anybody else
- Mood swings from big highs to terrible lows that leave you feeling unstable and emotionally fragile.
- Serious psychiatric illness or mood disorder that is not being well managed by a skilled health professional, such as a psychiatrist.
Any of these factors may indicate you have a serious mental health issue that needs to be addressed by a number of professionals. I encourage you to seek help from your GP if you are experiencing any of these challenges. If you are in crisis, please contact the 24-hour crisis counselling service Lifeline on 131 114 or 1800-RESPECT for immediate guidance and support.

What are the Reasons to Seek Online Counselling?
There are several compelling reasons why individuals, couples, and families may choose to seek online counselling:
- Convenience: Online counselling allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home or preferred location, eliminating the need for travel and saving time.
- Flexibility: Virtual therapy offers more flexible scheduling options, making it easier to fit sessions into your busy life, including evenings and weekends.
- Accessibility: Online counselling breaks down geographical barriers, providing access to a wider range of qualified therapists who may not be located in your immediate vicinity.
- Privacy: Some people feel more comfortable discussing sensitive topics in the privacy of their own space, reducing concerns about running into someone they know in a traditional therapy setting.
- Continuity of Care: If you have already established a therapeutic relationship with a counsellor, online counselling can allow you to continue your sessions when life circumstances change, such as moving to a different location.
- Safety Concerns: In some cases, individuals with physical or emotional challenges may find it safer and more manageable to receive counselling virtually.
- Comfort and Familiarity: Some clients feel more at ease and open up more readily during online sessions due to having a sense of comfort and familiarity, leading to effective therapy.
Remember that the decision to seek online counselling is a personal one, and the reasons can vary widely from person to person. It’s essential to choose the counselling format that works best for your unique needs and circumstances.
How can Online Counselling Help?
Online counselling is a powerful avenue for achieving therapeutic change, such as emotional well-being, stress reduction, personal growth, and stronger relationships. Its convenience, privacy, and flexibility make it a helpful choice for those looking to overcome obstacles, build resilience, and lead more satisfying lives. One of its central advantages lies in its ability to facilitate positive change while being convenient and accessible to a wide range of people.
Through the convenience of online access, clients can work with experienced therapists to address a wide range of mental health issues effectively. Privacy and comfort in familiar surroundings create an environment that encourages openness and self-expression, which can significantly impact the outcomes and progression of therapy. Therapeutic outcomes include improved emotional well-being, enhanced coping strategies, and the development of essential life skills. Online therapy equips clients with the tools to navigate challenges, reduce stress, and manage anxiety, ultimately leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life. Remember that preparation is key to making the most of your online counselling sessions. By taking these steps, you can create a conducive environment for a productive and successful therapeutic experience.

Yes! Over 30 years of research demonstrates that online therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy for most issues. If you are unsure it is best to contact your private health fund provider to see if you are eligible.
